Recent Highlights in broadcast, print, online (including my new book)

News release on Vatican Foundation award for the Science & Religion Initiative at the University of Notre Dame’s McGrath Institute for Church Life (July 31, 2018)

I’m thankful the Good Counsel network of maternity homes was featured in an Our Sunday Visitor story (Aug. 16, 2018) following national media outreach I conducted on behalf of Good Counsel’s outstanding president (and my valued friend), Christopher Bell.

On Aug. 13 and Aug. 6, 2018, I was privileged to be interviewed on the Catholic radio program “Living Stones” by co-hosts Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers and Ken Hallenius. Click the links to hear our two-part discussion of my book, When Headlines Hurt: Do We Have a Prayer?

On Aug. 7, Kyle Heimann and Andrea Serrani played the “Secular Synonyms” game I created on that morning’s Kyle Heimann Show on Redeemer Radio. Have a laugh here.

On July 31, Ken Hallenius and I co-hosted the one-hour, live Kyle Heimann Show on Redeemer Radio (subbing for the vacationing Kyle Heimann). Here’s the full audio.

In July, following release of my new book on journalism, I was interviewed by:

Catholic multimedia leader Lisa Hendey, whose podcasts and blogs–books and other inspirations too!–can be found at this site and others. Subject of this podcast interview: my book, When Headlines Hurt.

In June, I was interviewed on:

  • Al Kresta’s national radio show, “Kresta in the Afternoon,” about When Headlines HurtGo to the archives, download hour one for June 12, hear me at the 23:00 mark.
  • the national radio program, “Son Rise Morning Show,” with co-host Matt Swaim. Go to Soundcloud for the June 15 episode, and fast-forward to the 1:49:00 mark.
  • the Redeemer Radio talk show expertly hosted by Kyle Heimann in the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese. Hear the June 20 program archive at the 26:20 mark.

Read my 2018 e-book, When Headlines Hurt: Do We Have a Prayer?, modestly priced at Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Smashwords (for multiple formats such as Apple & PDF).

Read my Notre Dame Magazine blog post about “Caring for Words” and the common ground we can find with Pope Francis in helping to refresh conversation and news.

See my appearance as a commentator/musician (in a video made by Chuck Fry), honoring veterans (like my dad) in South Bend’s 2018 Memorial Day Parade.

Hear my on-air radio hosting of a live, one-hour interview show, raising money for Redeemer Radio and exploring evangelization activities at St. Bavo Parish (April 2018).

Check out my co-hosting (and co-production) of online podcasts, “EncounterPoints” and “That’s So Second Millennium!”–two series of lively conversations about evangelization.

Read news from my work as assistant editor at the Saint Paul Evangelization Society website, as well as a writer/photographer in recent Today’s Catholic news online.
